About Dr. Kennedy





Dr. Michael Kennedy is a board-certified sports and emergency medicine physician with expertise in treating a wide range of athletic injuries. With over twenty years of clinical experience, Dr. Kennedy provides a unique approach to sports medicine. Along with encouraging overall sports wellness, Dr. Kennedy strives to create awareness of sports-related injuries, and carries a passion for changing the often-violent culture of contact sports.





A certified Medical Review Officer (MRO), Dr. Kennedy is certified to perform drug screening for municipalities and sports teams and works as the Police Surgeon for the Suffolk County New York Sheriff’s Office. When Dr. Kennedy is not working, he can be found either working out in the gym or on the athletic field. More recently, Dr. Kennedy was named the medical advisor for the Long Island Lizards of the Men’s Lacrosse League.





Dr. Kennedy has extensive experience in communication with news media on sports injuries and has published numerous medical articles in peer-reviewed journals. He also regularly writes about Sports Medicine-related issues for community awareness on his professional Facebook page. Dr. Kennedy works to promote awareness and prevention of injuries in the athletic community.





Inspiration: Dr. Kennedy’s personal struggle rehabilitating after a high school football injury inspired him to become a doctor and advocate of fair play rules in contact sports. As the Chief Medical Officer of Expert Medical Care, Dr. Kennedy cares for athletes of all ages and sporting events. With an emphasis on care and prevention of specific sports injuries, Dr. Kennedy provides care and treatment options for middle school, high school, college, Olympic, professional athletes, and recreational athletes.





Events: Some of the events Dr. Kennedy has overseen include the New York Golden Gloves boxing tournament, the US Open Championship tennis tournament, and working as a Ringside Assistant with the Olympic Boxing Association. He is the sports physician for Valley Stream School District. Dr. Kennedy has also covered high school and college sporting events such as wrestling tournaments and football and lacrosse games.





Educational Overview: In addition to earning his degree in Osteopathic Medicine from University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Kennedy has earned an MBA in Business Management from Cornell University. Earning an MBA puts Dr. Kennedy in the unique position as a leader in his field. Dr. Kennedy has also held teaching appointments at both NYU and Cornell Medical Schools.
